Is it legal to drive without insurance in Australia?

There are a couple of different types of insurance in Australia and it is illegal to drive without one of them.

Compulsory Third Party or CTP, is part of your registration fee, if your car is registered then you have the legal amount of insurance. If your car is not registered, then you are driving illegally and uninsured.

The other type of insurance is ‘comprehensive’, this is not a legal requirement, though it is highly recommended.
